Super Fun Vaca Day 5

I was good today.

I started my day at the hotel gym. Yes. Even though I was on vacation. Don’t get all hyper about my dedication to the exercise….I really had just heard about the cool treadmills and wanted to see them for myself. Hello. Touch screen. Faincy.

After sweating next to some strange strangers, I received an invitation from Sandra to go biking around Stanley Park. I’m sure it is a lovely way to view the most amazingly beautiful park, except for the fact that I don’t bike. In fact, the last time I was on a bike, I crashed. So, the thought of climbing on a bike and riding it for 6 or 7 miles around on park trails all while trying to pretend like I knew what I was doing had thrown me into a case of full blown cold sweats. Not to mention, the super cute orange wedges from last night had rubbed a killer blister, and I was having all kinds of horrid images of me wailing in pain in the middle of the park. And then I would be that ridiculous American who can’t handle the bike. I thought about being brave for about 37 minutes, and then called Sandra and told her I just couldn’t do it.

So….we went shopping instead.

Interesting is all I can say about our shopping trip.

Interesting, indeed.

But, I did try on lots of cute stuff. And some not so cute stuff.

And I bought a couple of cute things. And put back LOTS of super cute things because free money wasn’t growing on the trees in Vancouver today.

Aren’t Rosie and I somethin’?

I bought those jeans. At the GAP. Because apparently I was under the impression that I couldn’t find a GAP in the States. So much for buying local.

But look at these super cute shoes.

These are to help me find my Greek goddess within. Or so said the very interesting sales lady that sold them to me. Uh….thanks, Miss OverExcited About Your Job. You can also see my big ole' blister on my toe thanks to the cute orange wedges from the night before. Nice.

And then I was asked if I was Russian.

We stopped and ate lunch while we were out, and I felt very swanky sitting in a restaurant that had mirrors and sticks as wall décor.

And I ate this.

Wasn’t a Quarter Pounder w/ Cheese, but it was good. And it had spinach on the sandwich. I swear, I have eaten more spinach on this trip. Geesh.

After shopping, I came back to the room and got gussied up to head out for dinner.

This time the 4 of us ended up at a nifty little restaurant that had live jazz, and we got to sit on the “patio.” It was another restaurant in which the menu options might as well of been written in Swahili, so I ordered the Caesar salad. And held the anchovies….again.

It was a pretty salad.

And here is Kirk with his halibut-something-or-other.

Look, kids....he's smiling. Albeit a weird Jokerish Jack Nicholson grin.

And here are the obligatory at-dinner pictures.

And then I had dessert. Yum.

That’s dark chocolate cheesecake, y’all. And I ate every bite.

As if we weren’t stuffed enough, Kirk and I stopped in at Tim Horton’s again for a hugacious box of donut holes (or TimBites) and vanilla lattes.

Oh. So. Good.

Kirk is finally out of meetings on Wednesday, so we are going to get to start the touristy part of our vaca. This place is beautiful, so I’m expecting all kinds of pretty. I’m still trying to talk him into taking me whale watching, so keep your fingers crossed for me on that one!

Stay tuned for Super Fun Vaca Day 6.

Super Fun Vaca Day 5. Over and out.

Amb,
Good to see you "in the groove" again! Back on the "farm" we are just getting the rascals down for a few minutes rest time, with the much anticipated "bowling" outing on the horizon in an hour or two. We're still "standing", "walking" and able to "think", INSTRUCT!!, "keep our cool", and a few other equally important grand-'rant kinds of characteristics.

Seriously, we're doing fine! Look forward to your vacapics!

Love you,
Jim-Dad

Please say you bought that blue sweater, because that is the cutest thing I've ever seen!

I dig those shoes. Wish my flat feet would let me buy cute shoes!

What fun you are having!! I am SO living through you on this vacation while I vacuum up DOG HAIR for the eleventieth time today!

You looked SO trendy and funky at dinner...and girl, why bother with the gym b/c you've eaten nothin' but salad (well, Tim Horton's) for two days!

I like the GAP but only the clearance racks and I LOVE their fragrances!

Hope to talk to you later!

That was a salad? That looks like a piece of lettuce. :)

I saw a good salad today while I was getting A's hair cute. It was a chicken caesar from Little Italy...It looked scrumpcious.

Hope you enjoy the next couple of days. Logan keeps asking about you guys.

Jen and I made it to the gym today again and I found out it was a good thing I didn't go to boot camp this week...3 of the regulars threw up on Monday. I so would have if I would have gone.

Miss you!

I guess I wasn't aware/didn't recall that the menus were so different than in the states. Seems like you've found a few fun things, though, like the dark chocolate cheesecake and donut holes. yummriffic. Hope you get to see those whales. You should print out this travel journal and save it as a keepsake. Very kewl.

Sounds like you are having a super fantastic time!! I feel so out of the loop after being without my computer for over a week, but I'm slowly catching up...at least on the blog world...my house? Not so much! Have a great rest of your vacation!
